Argentinian restaurant transforms facade with football-themed paint job<\/strong><\/p>\n

The football-obsessed owners of an\u00a0Argentinian restaurant<\/a>\u00a0have transformed the facade of their building with the blue and white stripes of their national side.<\/p>\n

La Patagonia, in Camden High Street, also has the number 10 emblazoned on the exterior in honour of the country\u2019s football icons Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona. Despite the latter\u2019s place as a villain in English football, for his \u201chand of God\u201d goal in the Mexico 1986 World Cup, the owners say passers-by can\u2019t get enough of the paint job, which took an entire weekend.<\/p>\n

Chef Adrian Cocco, who is co-owner with his wife Lili, said: \u201cPeople love the idea, they walk past and take pictures \u2026 It\u2019s risky with the Maradona \u2018hand of God\u2019 incident \u2014 it might have upset some English fans \u2014 but there have been no complaints.\u201d<\/p>\n

The restaurant is full of football memorabilia, including a parody painting of Michelangelo\u2019s The Creation Of Adam, featuring Messi and Maradona. It has been visited by several Argentinian footballers including former Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez.<\/p>\n
